lets celebrate!

Today was quite the day. Started out by visiting a family friend whom I've known since I was born. Pat Swain used to babysit me and my brother and were like a second family to us. I always try to keep in touch with them a little.
Then this afternoon we joined my parents and went to Edgerton Minnesota to celebrate my grandpa's 90th birthday. His actual birthday was the 14th but today was as good as any day to celebrate. There were people there that I had no idea who they were and some I'm related to and still don't know who they are. Of course family was there as well, including my uncle Dave and cousin Wendy who live in Colorado. We never see them so it was nice that they could be here for this big shin dig. Hopefully we will see more of them more often.
My grandpa seemed to enjoy himself and got lots of nice cards to wish him well.
After the party, the family went to my aunts house for pizza and just some time to talk and wind down I guess.
Mark had a meeting in Williams Iowa today so he didn't get to the party til about 4, just in time to clean up. So that meant Mark had his little car, so I drove back to my parents with him while the girls were with gramma and bapa. When mark and I got back to my parents we discovered that our dog had destroyed my parents screen door in the garage. See Snoopy can't be left alone for any amount of time because he like freaks out. You walk out the door for a couple mins and he goes nuts, either taking stuff out of the garbage or off the counter. He has been known to climb on the table and even on my desk to reach whatever he can find. So when we go away for the weekend we either bring him with or leave him at Mark's parents, well today we were at my parents. We shut him out in the sunroom and left the door open so he could get in and out if he needed to go to the bathroom, somehow he got shut in the garage and went crazy. I think its time to get rid of the dog so we have no more issues.
So, in spite of the dumb dog, it was a good day with family!
P.S. anyone want a rat terrier?!? He is free!

CIRCUS!!

Today was circus day. I picked up Ellie from school a bit early so we could make the 12:30 showing. The girls were so excited to go!
This picture would either make daddy proud or scare him. Mark isn't a big fan of clowns but the girls weren't scared so we got a picture with this clown.
The pictures are in the backward order, but thats ok. This is the human cannon which is the last event at the circus. He goes way up in the air and then shoots across the arena and lands in a net. He made it and the girls thought it was really cool.

This is Bo the elephant. He was doing a front foot stand or whatever you want to call it. The elephant is my favorite just cause he is so cute.

I always get the girls a light up toy so they can have something to shine when the lights go out. Chloe is showing hers off.

I think it looks really cool when the lights go off and you see all the light toys across the arena.

The girls had a blast at the circus. It even worn Chloe out. When we got back to my parents, she cuddled next to me and fell asleep beside mommy!
Tomorrow is another day in our crazy weekend fun, so I'll be blogging about that more tomorrow!

excitment!

So in my last blog I mentioned that we received some wonderful exciting news, but I couldn't say what it was, well now I can.
My husbands brother Matt and his wife Bethany are expecting their 2nd baby in November. Their first is about 9 months old and just a doll, so we were so excited and surprised when they told us they were expecting.
this is how they announced the news.

It turns out that Kathy(SIL), Bethany(SIL) and I were all pregnant at the same time, only we didn't know about Bethany at the time. I think thats pretty cool that we could all share that experience.

So this year will be packed with babies in the Bosma family and we couldn't be more excited!

Crazy weekend

Wow, this weekend was kind of crazy for us. It all started on Friday.
Mark had the day off, which is kind of different. He is usually home after lunch on Fridays anyways, but the girls I think were a little confused that daddy was home all day. We didn't do a whole lot on Friday, but it still seemed crazy.
Saturday morning Mark took off to Sioux falls to get his rowing machine  while I was home with the girls. Then once Mark got home from Sufu, I dropped him and the girls off at his parents. There he was going to help his brother fix his computer and the girls could play with their cousins from Wisconsin. I went over to my sister in law, Kathy's. They just bought a house and were moving in this weekend. Kathy wanted to get the painting and such done, so I went to help her with baby Isabella's room. I must say it is a super cute room thanks to the wonderful polka dot templates we put up on the walls! Mark also helped with some moving of furniture on Saturday afternoon, so that Kathy and Cody could sleep at their new house. Then in the evening we all went out to the farm for supper. There we received some wonderful news which I can't share at this time but will surely share more later. It was past the girls bedtime when we got home, but they had a great day.
Sunday was of course Easter. Church was fantastic. I love singing the Easter songs about Christ death and rising from the dead and conquering the grave! Sunday dinner was at the farm. We hung out there most of the day while the girls played and we were able to talk to family. It was sunny and warm so the kids were able to play outside for once. It seems forever since the sun has been out and now of course as I type this out its raining, but such is Spring.
Sunday night we were able to witness Cody's profession of faith and the baptism of Isabella Grace. What a wonderful service that was! Then after church we headed out to the farm again for some cake. Once again it was very late and way past bedtime, but we were able to get some fun pictures and have fun with family.
It was a great weekend and its always nice to get together with family, even one as big as Marks. With 12 kids so far it gets a bit loud and crazy, but we always manage to smile about something.

All the girl cousins.

Spoiled

Mark is one happy man right about now. I allowed him to get something he has wanted for awhile now. A rowing machine. He has wanted it since at least Christmas time, but never got it. So this morning he went all the way to Sioux Falls to pick up his rowing machine.

The girls were even allowed to try it out.
Mark has been doing a Healthy Iowa type of program with his co-workers and has lost quite a bit of weight. I am very proud of all his hard work and dedication! Way to go Sweetie!!

You are what you eat.

So through out my pregnancy I haven't really had any cravings. Early on I wanted steak and french fries, but otherwise no other cravings. Now my thing is and has been for the last few months, STRAWBERRIES!! I love strawberries! I will buy 3 or 4 containers at a time. But I'me very picky about which ones I buy too. I don't just grab and go, I have to flip the containers upside down to make sure there are no bad ones in there. If one looks bad then I put that container back and get another one. Once I get my strawberries home then I will clean them and cut the tops off, which is probably the only bad thing about strawberries. I check them over to make sure there are no bad spots that I missed as well. Once I have all the strawberries cleaned and cut up, then I can fill a bowl and cover the strawberries with sugar and enjoy. I'm probably more in to the sugar on top of the strawberries then the actual strawberries, but either way they are still really good!... Besides putting sugar on them, you can dip them in cream cheese fruit dip or another dip that my sister in law made for a baby shower is cream cheese, vanilla and a little bit of brown sugar. It was really good!
This baby is either going to really love strawberries or come out hating them because I ate to many during this pregnancy. I just hope that I don't eventually get sick of them too, that would be a tragedy!
So I guess if the saying goes you are what you eat, well then I'm happy to be a strawberry!

One of those days

Do you ever have one of those days where it seems that no matter how many time you say something, or how loud you are, no one hears you. That was my day. The girls just didn't want to move this morning to get ready for school. Chloe stayed in bed after I told her multiple times to get up. Ellie didn't wan to get dressed. They just didn't seem to hear anything I said. Maybe its selective hearing or maybe its cause mom isn't tough enough. Who  knows. Its very frustrating tho and I'm not sure how to go about changing things.

There was one good thing today and that is I got a hair cut. One more thing I can check off the list before the baby comes in 5 weeks. It always feels good to get a hair cut. Even if its only a cut it is still nice.

I wish the weather would get better these days so that I can send the girls outside to play. Maybe that would help with their attention issues and misbehavior. I know its Spring and I know it can rain and snow in the springtime, but I wish it would make up its mind. We go from 75 degrees to a cold 35. What gives?!? My tulips need some sun and so do my roses. I guess thats what we get for living in Iowa!

Hope you had a great day and that the sun come out soon!

Just messing around trying to figure out this whole blog thing.

                                                            32 weeks pregnant.

Weekend

So we headed to Pella IA for a wedding this weekend bright and early on Saturday morning. I never know how the girls will do in the car. I bring games and books and things to color and of course snacks, hoping it keeps them busy enough to make the 5hr trek. An hour or so down the road, Ellie says its taking forever to get there and I think, oh great here goes. Luckily Mark was in the back seat with the girls so he could keep them occupied and keep them semi busy.
I should explain that we rode with my parents in their van. The girls sit in the way back in their seats, leaving a small amount of room for another person. Me, being 8 1/2 months prego, am not about to crawl into the back seat to sit between two carseats. Guess who go that joy. Yep, Mark. He is the thinest so he got that joy.
At the wedding the girls were in awe of the whole thing. They did so well during the ceremony, but the reception was another deal. Ellie spilled punch only to get upset and cry. Then Chloe was trying to touch the centerpieces that were there which were small marble looking jelly ball things, NOT edible. The lunch lime took forever, so I was getting sick of hearing the girls complain so I budged in line and got them food. They ate about as much as a mouse, oh well we went out later for pizza.
Being in Pella is always fun when you get to visit the relatives. Namely my great aunts and uncles. They seem to know everyone in town and around Pella. My brother and I were saying we could listen to my aunts talk for hours cause its soo entertaining, even when we know no one they are talking about. I'm glad I have some relatives left in that area that can remind me of my grandparents!
The ride home was uneventful. We are glad to be back home. Well I guess I might take that back since I just looked outside to see the snow falling. It is Spring and we live in the midwest, so happy spring!

Well, here goes!

So since everyone seems to be blogging these days, I thought I would give it a try. If no one reads it thats fine I"ll just have somewhere to whine and complain and talk about whats going on in this crazy thing we called life. With 2 young girlies and another baby on the way I'm sure it will be interesting in the next few months. I hope someone can at least get a smile from our life. Enjoy!
